The increase in cases Zika aggravated fears about Zika in Colombia, especially with regard to its links with the increase in cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS).

GBS is a rare condition that causes the body’s immune system to aggressively attack the nervous system.

While the mortality rate of GBS is normally around five percent, in severe cases can cause paralysis of the survivors.

If confirmed, it would provide a new and very disturbing development for adult victims since the panic caused by Zika was due mainly to babies born with this after their mothers were infected.
