The New Delhi-Dehradun expressway to open in phases.The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) enters the final countdown to June 2021 to launch the first phase of 210-km long, longest highway in the country. However, it was scheduled for completion by the month of March and the work was delayed due to pollution related restrictions of Delhi. On the other hand, the project is at the end or rather as soon as this phase will be accomplished, and NHAI is fully equipped with the arrangements and planning, the opening will soon follow.

The completion of this project will consequently reduce the peak hours of traffic jams between the cities which will ultimately make these journeys considerably easier and significantly shorten the current five hours of drive between the cities down to just about two and a half hours. The expressway that is a Rs. 8,300 crores investment has been constructed for 100 kmph approved speed for light vehicles.

Phase 1 of this project consists of two steps, which are from Akshardham as the beginning to Baghpat (as the last station). These two steps stretch a total of 31.65 kilometers. The middle of the corridor named Rohini-Inderlok to Mavi (Uttar Pradesh) comprises a 18-kilometer stretch of an elevated segment beginning from Geeta Colony in Delhi and ceasing at Mavi in Uttar Pradesh.

As per NHAI officials, only final touches are left to be undertaken by Phase 1, including signage and infrastructure. They have full confidence that it will be running by the end of the next month.
