Patanjali launches Anti-COVID-19 drug ‘Coronil’: Everything you need to know

Baba Ramdev led Ayurvedic products giant Patanjali launched a new drug ‘Coronil’ against the deadly COVID-19. The company claimed that it is an evidence-based medicine that passed the clinical control trials without observing any death. Swami Ramdev, the Yoga guru, unveiled the tablet in a press briefing at the Patanjali’s headquarters in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

10 things you should know about the anti-COVID drug

  1. The Coronil kit was tested on 100 patients in which 65 per cent recovered within 3 days while it took 7 days for all the patients to turn negative in the COVID-19 test.
  2. No mortality was observed in all the 100 patients who were given this medicine.
  3. Baba Ramdev claimed that medicine has been produced following all the scientific rules.
  4. The clinical trials of the Coronil drugs were conducted after approval from the CTRI (Clinical Trials Registry-India).
  5. During the trial, 35 per cent COVID-19 patients who were not given Coronil did not test Negative.
  6. Ayurvedic ingredients such as Giloi, Tulsi, Ashwagandha and various other minerals and components were used to prepare the Coronil.
  7. The Coronil kit has three medicines which include two tablets and one liquid medicine. The three medicines are Anu oil and two tablets. 3 to 5 drops of Anu oil is to be poured into the nostrils of the human body. Three tablets, three times a day is to be taken from both the tablets.
  8. It works on the respiratory system of the human body and improves the body’s immunity to fight against the coronavirus inside the body.
  9. The Coronil of Coronil Kit medicine is priced at Rs 545 and it will be available in the Patanjali shops across the country within a week.
  10. An app will be launched on June 29 to make it easier for people to buy the Coronil kit online.

If the Coronil shows positive results in the first few days, it could be a game-changer for India. Coronavirus is rapidly growing in India and soon the numbers are going to be huge. If the medicine gets WHO’s clearance and then other countries would also want to buy the medicine. India could export the medicine and earn a lot of money as well as increase the soft power across the world by availing it either for free or at a subsidised rate for poor countries.
