1. Man threw acid because She Said No!

A man threw acid on a 24 –year –old woman in west Bengaluru after she turned down his marriage proposal. The victim, an employee with a private firm has sustained more than 25 percent burn injuries and she is being treated at a private hospital. 2. He slit her throat – Kyunki Usne Na Kaise Kaha?

In another horrific incident, a 20 – year –old man in Gujarat was arrested for slitting the throat of a 21 –year –old woman because she said No. The case was reported on February 16, 2022. As per details, the boy dragged the girl from her house and slit her throat in public, killing her on the spot.

A user on Quora revealed that his best friend was harassed by her boyfriend after she said no to him. As per the details, he was forcing her to say no to the boy of her parents’ choice. When she didn’t agree, he threatened her to upload all intimate pictures on a porn website. The incident left girl traumatized and she even tried to commit suicide.

4. He attacked me the moment I said No

Another woman on Twitter revealed that the man attacked her the moment she said No. In a Twitter threat, she revealed that she wanted to remain just friends. The guy lost his cool and pushed her down, grabbed her wrist and whispered – “You saying No turns me On More”. It was a horrific incident but I managed to escape, she added.

5. Do you remember the Shahdara, Delhi case where a woman was raped and paraded in the public because she had said No to someone in past

A 20 –year –old woman was raped, assaulted then was paraded in Public. The case triggered rage among Indians but Kab tak aise chalega? For the unversed, all this happened to her because she did not return affections of 14 –year –old boy who was allegedly obsessed with her and died by suicide. The family blamed her and decided to punish her. Notably, she was beaten, raped and her head was shaved.

Why it has become a common sight in India and why men become violent?

Many psychologists believe that men are brought up with an idea that best goes to them. They learn this behaviour right from the beginning. From getting best portion on dining table to going for higher studies, they always feel entitled for the best things in life.

The same applies when they pursue a woman later in life. They feel how can she no to me? In country like India, it becomes a dangerous situation, where regressive patriarchal ideas are clashing with modern reality on a daily basis. Women are now more demanding, they ask for rights and sharply voice out their opinion. And when they say No. Some men just can’t take it.

Is there a Solution? – Let’s normalize Rejection

Men are not aware of how to deal with this new assertive woman. A lot of Indian men don’t know the concept of negotiation. They must negotiate with a woman when facing a problem. Apart from it, they are not taught how to deal with rejection. In fact, when a man gets rejected he feels – Woh Aisa Kaise kar Sakti hai? As a society we have wrongly pivoted masculinity. It is important to teach rejection management to both the genders. Men often deal with it aggressively and women accept it as their fate but that’s not okay!

Well, everyone struggle with rejection. Be it a man or a woman. But women approach to this idea differently. Women are conditioned to deal with No in a more internal way. She blames herself and it is more fatalistic for them. But men don’t think that way. We as a society has to normalize Rejection – That it is okay to face rejection and that’s not end of the world.
