6 Dishes to satisfy your stomach during winter


 

Winters are here are so is the need for warm, delicious food that not only warms your body but also your soul. Food is an important part of our lives, but it is also essential to have the right food at the right time and in the right form.

Ayurveda, the ancient science has left us with a lot of recommendations that we can follow to ensure a healthy living. The food on our table should not only change according to our body but also according to the season. So, here is a list that we have curated for you keeping in mind the needs of your body in the winter season-

 

  1. Subji Miloni or Mixed Vegetable

Winter is a great season for vegetables and including more of these is a healthy start. A visit to your nearest vegetable hawker will show you the rich variety of vegetables you can get- capsicum, carrot, spinach, cauliflower, beans and so many more. The beauty of this dish is that is cooks all the vegetables in mustard oil and by adding some basic spices, makes it a perfect serving for any foodie.

  1. Baingan Bharta

This is an all-time favourite for people who love having litti chokha. Litti chokha is a dish very popular in Bihar and goes best when paired with Baingan Bharta.

Now, the key to a perfect Bharta is to coat the brinjal with mustard oil and then roast on the fire. Onion, garlic and the spices you use should also be sautéed in mustard oil for an authentic taste.

  1. Bengali style dum aalo

Even though this is a dish you can have throughout the year, there is a different feeling of eating this during winters. The dum aalo is spicy and slightly sweet and goes best with luchi (fried puri made out of flour). Spicy food is good for winters and will help your body to generate heat and keep you warm.

Jaggery, a by-product of sugar cane is a great addition to our food intake. It not only satisfies your sweet tooth but also has various health benefits such as- It is good for digestion, a great source of antioxidant, an immunity booster, a rich source of iron and many more.
