The Mahadev app has been making headlines as several Bollywood personalities were recently questioned in connection with this Dubai-based platform. Baghel responded to the allegations, saying, “Can there be a bigger joke? If today I catch someone and ask him to mention PM Modi’s name, will they (ED) interrogate him? It has become very easy to tarnish someone’s reputation.”

ED, BJP, and Congress Clash

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh responded to Smriti Irani’s press conference and claimed collusion between the ED and the BJP in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh was evident. “FIRs related to the Mahadev app were filed in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, both of which are not BJP-ruled states. So, who is conspiring against Bhupesh Baghel?” Smriti Irani countered by saying, “This issue is not recent; the FIR was filed in 2022, and the investigations have been ongoing. The Congress is being accused of election misconduct using Hawala operators.”

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo urged Smriti Irani to present any evidence she may have and questioned why she was making allegations without revealing information. He also raised concerns about the timing of these allegations right before the elections and criticized the lack of concrete facts in the ED’s press release.

The Mahadev betting app case revolves around a platform that operated in India from Dubai, facilitating illegal betting in live games, poker, cricket, badminton, and even elections. Many celebrities endorsed the platform while it funnelled money through concealed accounts.

The ED mentioned individuals like Asim Das, Shubham Soni, and Chandrabhushan Verma in connection with the case, alleging links to Bhupesh Baghel and illicit financial transactions.
