Sukesh Chandrashekhar ₹200 Crore Extortion Case: Court Criticises Nora Fatehi Over Her Conduct
The ₹200 crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar has once again attracted attention after Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court criticised Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi over her absence from a scheduled court appearance. On November 2, 2026, the court expressed displeasure when her lawyer requested an exemption from her personal appearance and subsequently issued fresh summons directing her to appear on November 6.
The latest development has brought renewed attention to the high-profile case, which involves allegations of financial fraud, impersonation, money laundering and connections with Bollywood celebrities. However, it is important to clarify that Nora Fatehi is a prosecution witness in this case and is not an accused.
Rouse Avenue Court Criticises Nora Fatehi Over Her Absence
During the November 2 hearing, the Rouse Avenue Court questioned why Nora Fatehi had not appeared despite being summoned as a witness. Her lawyer requested an exemption from personal appearance, explaining that she had received the summons at short notice and had prior professional commitments.
The court expressed its displeasure over the situation and remarked that her conduct was not up to the mark. The judge also warned the counsel against taking the court for granted.
Following the proceedings, the court issued fresh summons directing Nora Fatehi to appear on November 6, 2026, to record her evidence.

According to reports, her legal representatives later clarified that the actress had not deliberately ignored the court proceedings and that an exemption application had been submitted because of her professional commitments.
Nora Fatehi Is a Witness, Not an Accused
Following the court proceedings, Nora Fatehi’s legal team issued a clarification addressing reports surrounding her involvement in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar extortion case.
Her representatives stated that she had been summoned exclusively as a witness to assist the court. They also emphasised that she was neither an accused nor alleged to have committed any offence in the proceedings.
Earlier, the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) questioned Nora regarding her alleged association with Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose.
Her statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Subsequently, she was included as a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet.
During the investigation, Nora reportedly told authorities that her interactions with Sukesh took place through his wife.
What Is the ₹200 Crore Sukesh Chandrashekhar Extortion Case?
The case revolves around allegations that Sukesh Chandrashekhar orchestrated a massive extortion operation while lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail.
According to investigators, he allegedly impersonated senior government officials and contacted Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. He allegedly promised assistance in securing her husband’s release from jail in exchange for money.
Investigators alleged that approximately ₹200 crore was extorted through these activities during 2020 and 2021.
The Delhi Police Special Cell and Economic Offences Wing investigated the allegations. Charges were subsequently framed against Sukesh, his wife Leena Maria Paulose and other individuals under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The proceedings are currently at the prosecution evidence stage.
Enforcement Directorate and Money Laundering Investigation
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also investigated the financial aspects connected with Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s alleged criminal activities.
The money laundering investigation focuses on suspected proceeds of crime, financial transactions and the alleged diversion of funds.
Investigators have examined whether money generated through criminal activities was used to purchase expensive assets and provide luxury gifts to celebrities and other individuals.
The controversy has attracted considerable public attention because of the alleged involvement of high-value transactions, expensive presents and Bollywood connections.
It is important to distinguish the ED’s money laundering proceedings from the Delhi Police’s ₹200 crore extortion prosecution, although the investigations are connected through the alleged proceeds of crime.
Jacqueline Fernandez, Nora Fatehi and the Luxury Gifts Controversy
Another prominent Bollywood name associated with the controversy is Jacqueline Fernandez. The actress was questioned by investigators regarding her alleged association with Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
The investigation examined allegations involving expensive gifts, luxury items and financial benefits allegedly provided by Sukesh to celebrities.
Nora Fatehi was also questioned about her interactions with Sukesh and his wife. The alleged luxury gifts controversy became a significant talking point in entertainment news, bringing additional attention to the wider investigation.
However, being questioned during an investigation or appearing in a chargesheet as a witness does not automatically establish criminal wrongdoing.
What Happens Next in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Case?
The immediate focus is on Nora Fatehi’s scheduled appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court on November 6, 2026.

Her testimony is expected to assist the prosecution in presenting its evidence and establishing relevant details surrounding the investigation.
Meanwhile, the broader Sukesh Chandrashekhar case continues to involve allegations of organised extortion, impersonation and money laundering.
The latest court proceedings highlight the importance of witnesses cooperating with judicial processes. As the case progresses, further developments may provide additional clarity about the alleged financial network and the individuals connected to the investigation.
For now, Nora Fatehi’s legal position remains that of a prosecution witness, while the allegations against Sukesh Chandrashekhar continue to be examined through the ongoing judicial proceedings.
