Delhi Police ACP suspended as Manasvi Vashishtha faces action after personnel protest against officer transfers at Delhi Police headquarters.

Delhi ACP Manasvi Vashishtha Suspended Over Police Personnel’s Protest Against Transfers

The Delhi Police department has witnessed a major development after Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashishtha was suspended following a protest by police personnel outside the Delhi Police Headquarters. The action was taken on November 3, 2026, a day after several police personnel gathered at the headquarters to express their dissatisfaction over the transfer of two officers.

The Delhi Police ACP suspended development has attracted considerable attention because the demonstration involved serving police personnel raising concerns about departmental decisions. The protest was primarily organised against the transfer of ACP Manasvi Vashishtha and Shahdara Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arun Kumar following a confrontation involving police personnel and lawyers at Shahdara Police Station.

ACP Manasvi Vashishtha Suspended After Police Headquarters Protest

ACP Manasvi Vashishtha was suspended on Tuesday, November 3, following his participation in the demonstration held outside the Delhi Police Headquarters on Monday. According to media reports, the suspension was ordered on disciplinary grounds, with sources indicating that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the action with immediate effect.

The ACP Manasvi Vashishtha suspension comes amid growing tensions within the department over the recent transfers. Several police personnel had assembled outside the headquarters to demand the cancellation of the transfer orders and an opportunity to present their concerns directly to senior officials.

The gathering initially began with around 80 to 100 personnel, with reports suggesting that the number increased significantly during the subsequent interaction with senior officers.

What Triggered the Manasvi Vashishtha Protest?

The controversy originated from an incident at Shahdara Police Station on October 23, 2026. During the incident, an advocate reportedly sustained a serious head injury following an alleged confrontation.

According to allegations raised by members of the legal fraternity, advocates visiting the police station to seek action in the matter faced inappropriate behaviour. They also alleged that ACP Manasvi Vashishtha displayed a service revolver during the confrontation.

Following the incident, lawyers across several district courts in Delhi launched an indefinite strike, demanding action against the officers concerned.

The situation eventually led to a meeting involving Delhi Police representatives, the Bar Council of Delhi and district court bar associations. Subsequently, transfer orders were issued for two officers on October 28.

Transfer Orders of ACP Manasvi Vashishtha and Inspector Arun Kumar

Following the controversy, Delhi Police transferred both officers from their previous positions.

ACP Manasvi Vashishtha, who was serving as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Gandhi Nagar in the Shahdara subdivision, was transferred to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC).

Similarly, Shahdara Police Station SHO Inspector Arun Kumar was transferred to the Security branch of Delhi Police.

These administrative decisions helped bring the lawyers’ indefinite strike to an end. However, the transfers reportedly created dissatisfaction among a section of police personnel who believed their concerns and experiences also needed consideration.

The Manasvi Vashishtha protest subsequently became a significant internal development within the Delhi Police department.

Police Personnel Gather Outside Delhi Police Headquarters

On November 2, several police personnel gathered outside Gate No. 1 of the Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road in New Delhi.

The demonstrators raised slogans and displayed placards supporting the transferred officers. Their demands included reinstating ACP Manasvi Vashishtha and Inspector Arun Kumar to their previous positions.

The gathering was initially described by some participants as a Sampark Sabha, or an interaction meeting, rather than a conventional protest.

Senior officials, including New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma, reached the location and attempted to persuade the personnel to follow departmental procedures for raising grievances.

The protesting officers sought a direct meeting with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar. Eventually, a delegation of personnel was allowed to meet senior officials and present their concerns.

What Were the Demands of the Protesting Police Personnel?

During the Delhi Police headquarters protest, personnel raised several issues concerning their professional responsibilities, workplace dignity and interactions with members of the legal fraternity.

Some of their key concerns included:

  • Reconsideration of the transfer orders issued against the two officers.
  • Better protection for police personnel while performing official duties in court premises.
  • Clear guidelines for handling situations involving lawyers at police stations.
  • A structured grievance-redressal mechanism within the department.
  • Appropriate action in cases involving alleged misconduct against police personnel.

The demonstration highlighted the need for effective communication between police personnel and senior departmental authorities.

Delhi Police Commissioner Holds Sampark Sabha

Amid the growing dissatisfaction, Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and other senior officers held a Sampark Sabha at the headquarters to interact with personnel from different ranks.

During the interaction, officers raised concerns relating to promotions, housing facilities, Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) benefits and other service-related matters.

Delhi Police also indicated that a Joint Coordination Committee involving representatives of the Bar Council of Delhi and district bar associations would be formed to address concerns faced by police personnel while carrying out their responsibilities.

Senior officials assured personnel that genuine grievances would receive appropriate attention and that regular meetings would help improve communication within the force.

While the protest focused on the transfer of two officers and broader workplace concerns, the subsequent disciplinary action has raised further questions about departmental discipline and the process for addressing grievances.

As of November 3, 2026, detailed official information explaining the suspension was still awaited. The developments are being closely followed as the department works to address concerns raised by its personnel while maintaining professional discipline.

The incident has brought attention to the challenges faced by law enforcement officials, particularly when disagreements arise between police personnel and members of the legal community. Further developments are expected to clarify the department’s position and the next steps in the matter.
