Google Doodle celebrates Clara Rockmoore’s Birthday

Today is the 105th Birthday of the musician, Clara Rockmoore. Rockmoore was a theremin player, who had started out as a violoin player. She left playing the violin because of the physical strain.

Theremin is an electronic instrument, which can literally play music through thin air. It is controlled with physical gesture, without any physical contact with the instrument. Rockmoore was one of the most influential figures in development of this instrument.

The Doodle also celebrates this with a musical visual image. The user can get the feel of playing a theremin from the doodle. The doodle was created by “artist Robinson Wood, interaction designer Kevin Burke, and engineers Will Knowles and Kris Hom.”
