Asia and Pacific witness Total Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse was witnessed by people across Pacific and parts of Indonesia Sumatra, Borneo and the islands of Sulawesi and Halmahera.

The phenomena took place from 23:19 UTC on March 8, 2016 till 01:59 UTC on March 9, 2016. Totality of the eclipse lasted for 4 minutes and 9 seconds.

In a total solar eclipse, a moon comes in between the path of Sun and the Earth. The moon blocks the rays of the sun and casts a shadow on some parts. This result in a few moments of complete darkness and the sky turns beautiful.

Total solar eclipse is a rare phenomena. This eclipse is important for scientists for researches and it have a special significance in helping them understand about the solar system.
