US President proposes tax on crude to fund green policy

Outgoing US President, Barack Obama, has been known to be ‘radical,’ atleast by conservative standards.

In a well timed move, given the falling prices of the commodity, he has proposed a $ 10 tax per barrel of crude oil to create a corpus to fund green transport system in the country.

According to the President, this move will enhance the green transport capacity by 50 percent, create new jobs, while at the same time reduce USA’s carbon footprint by cutting carbon emission.

This proposal has predictably been vehimentaly opposed by the Republicans. The speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Paul Ryan said “…the President should be proposing policies to grow our economy instead of sacrificing to appease progressive climate activists.”
