Is this Noida Airport in Up?

Fake news: An image is being widely shared by social media users and various media outlets as the visual of the Noida International Airport in Jewar in Uttar Pradesh whose foundation stone was laid by PM Modi on 25 November. Read our fact-checked report.

Checking facts: The image is actually of the Incheon International Airport situated in South Korea and not from the Noida International airport.

Did Indonesia’s queen convert to Hinduism with 30000 followers? 

Fake news: A photo is shared massively on social media with the claim that the Queen of Indonesia, Sukmawati Sukarnoputri has now converted to Hinduism from Islam along with her 30,000 followers. Here is a fact-check.

Checking facts: The photo showed that KRA Mahindrani Kooswidyanthi Paramasari, a member of Karaton Solo Palace in Central Java, had converted to Hinduism in 2017 and not this year. In addition, Sukmawati is not a queen and she did not bring 30000 followers to embrace Hinduism from Islam.

Fake news: Many Bharatiya Janata Party leaders shared a photo of a dam, lauding Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Modi for launching irrigation projects built to facilitate better irrigation in drought-prone Bundelkhand.

Checking facts: The photo is of the Srisailam dam that was built at the top of the Krishna River. It flows from Maharashtra and empties out into the Bay of Bengal in the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border.

Farmers create ruckus at BJP Program!

Fake news: An 18-second video is increasingly viral on social media. In the viral video, many people can be seen holding sticks in their hands, vandalizing a stage, tearing the banners, and throwing chairs. The banner has a BJP party symbol (Lotus) and photographs of some leaders. While sharing the video clips, people on social media claimed that the viral video was recorded after the announcement of repealing the Farm Laws.

Checking facts: The viral claim is false. The viral video in a report of ABP news dated 10 January 2021. The title of the video report reads, “Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar blames Congress for Karnal protest.” According to the report, the viral video is from Karnal, Haryana. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana had called a Mahapanchayat in Karnal, after which farmers protested against this and created a ruckus.

Fake news: This week social media was filled with heartbreaking news. Rowan Atkinson who is popular for portraying Mr. Bean died on November 22. Many of his fans wrote heartwarming posts and condolences to his demise. However, before you rush to write your condolences, read our fact check here.

Japan using Ivermectin to fight back COVID-19!

Fake news: Amid the ongoing COVID-19 threat, we came across a piece of news that claims that Japan is using Ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug for treating coronavirus instead of vaccines. This post is widely shared on social media. 

Checking facts: The claim is false. Japan has neither approved Ivermectin nor have they dropped the idea and process of vaccination drive.
