Tragic loss: Gun Misfire Claims Hyderabad Police Constable’s Life, he succumbed to a gunshot wound despite medical efforts.
A tragic incident occurred at Kabutar Khana police outpost in Hyderabad, where a 28-year-old head constable named Bhupati Srikanth, serving with the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP), lost his life due to an accidental discharge of his service rifle. Srikanth, affiliated with the 12th battalion of TSSP, was on guard duty at the outpost in the old city’s Hussaini Alam area.
According to reports from senior police officials, Srikanth had retired to his sleeping quarters around 1 to 1:30 a.m. Unexpectedly, a gunshot echoed from his room shortly afterwards, drawing the attention of his colleagues. Tragically, they found Srikanth injured and his carbine gun lying nearby. Rushed to Osmania General Hospital, he succumbed to the gunshot wound despite medical efforts.

Srikanth’s Commitment to his duty:
The mishap appears to have occurred while Srikanth was likely inspecting the gun’s ammunition count before storing it securely for the night. The bullet’s trajectory suggests it entered his forehead and exited from his right ear.

Hailing from a financially modest background, Srikanth was deeply committed to his duty, a sentiment echoed by his colleague Vinay. Srikanth’s upcoming marriage and recent transfer to Hussaini Alam from the APSP battalion underscore his dedication. Authorities have registered the incident as a suspicious death and are conducting a post-mortem examination.
