Chandrayaan-3 is a follow up mission to Chandrayaan-2 to show end to end capability in revolving and safe landing on the lunar surface. The launch day of Chandrayaan-3 is 14 July 2023.

History is a mystery but not in this case, Chandrayaan-1 was India’s first moon mission. Chandrayaan-2 was India’s second moon mission. The name ‘Chandrayaan’ means Chandra that is moon. Chandrayaan-1 was launched on 22 October 2008, Chandrayaan-2 was launched on 22 July 2019. Chandrayaan-1 found traces of water on the moon on the other hand Chandrayaan-2 couldn’t reach moon, the major objectives being the soft landing on the lunar surface.

The objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to demonstrate safe and soft landing on the Lunar surface. Secondly to demonstrate rover roving on the moon and to conduct in-site scientific experiments.

The Chandrayaan-3 will be launched on 14 July 2023 at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 2:35pm. According to ISRO the Chandrayaan-3 will reach the lunar orbit in almost a month post the launch. The Chandrayaan-3 will travel in the vastness of space for over 45 days.

ISRO aims to explore lunar geology and the environment, focusing on a soft landing since unfortunately Chandrayaan-2 failed to land successfully. This will be India’s second attempt to land on the moon successfully.

The launch is all set and scheduled for 2:30 pm on Friday, with the spacecraft, including rover, lander, encased on propulsion module ready to embark on it’s lunar journey.
