Chandrayaan-3  is the third mission to the moon for India. It is a follow-up to the unsuccessful launch of Chandrayaan-2. The missions will try to demonstrate the end-to-end capability of soft landing on the Moon and delivering a lander and a rover on the lunar surface.

The Chandrayaan-3 has an indigenous lander module (LM), propulsion module (PM), and a rover. The lander and rover have scientific payloads that are capable of carrying out experiments on the lunar surface.

Chandrayaan-3 will have more equipment and fuel capacity, giving it a better chance than its predecessor.

Chandrayaan-2 mission had ended on September 6, 2019 when Vikaram, the lander had failed to make a soft landing. Though India’s attempts were highly appreciated, it failed to become the fourth country to achieve this feat. The three countries that have managed to land on the Moon so far are- United States, the erstwhile Soviet Union and China.

As the date for the Chandrayaan-3 mission comes closer, there is a lot of anticipation and hope that we will have a successful attempt this time and thereby becoming the fourth country to land on the moon and make history.
