Facebook and Twitter banned in Turkey

The Turkish authorities banned social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter after car bombing images were shared on these sites.

The order was passed by an Ankara court. This is not the first instant that the authorities have resorted to such measures.

Last year also the authorities had banned Twitter after images on a man being held to gun point was shared on social media.

The suicide bombing that took place on Sunday in Ankara led to loss of several lives. People are facing trouble in accessing the sites after the Telecommunications authority banned the sites based on a court order.
