The Calif-based social media, Menlo Park has blanketed Indian cities with billboards and have taken out two page newspaper ads to tout free basics. Which the regulator’s suspended last week after opponents claimed it violated net neutrality.

Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerburg wrote on Monday that critics have mischarecterized Free basics, which he said will bridge to the Internet for millions , who had never been online before.

He compared the services to the libraries, education and healthcare- basic public goods that everyone expects to be available.

This shows how India has become a battle ground for tech-giants including Google and Microsoft who are in tussle for advantage in our country.
