Since September 2013, Delhi Police is active on Twitter and have only 3,593 followers. In August 2012, Bengaluru Police joined Twitter and has about 1.32 lakh followers. As the followers of Mumbai police are increasing with a high pace, it might surpass the Bengaluru police in the coming days.

Joint commissioner of Mumbai Police Deven Bharti said that they have made their active presence online 24×7. It took some time to Mumbai Police to join Twitter because some procedure for setting up infrastructure was going on.

Deven Bharti also told, department is mulling to have a Facebook page. In order to handle and maintain the page help is being taken by the professionals but soon staff would be self sufficient to handle it. Now in case of emergency Mumbaikars can reach to police through live tweets, pictures and messages.
