West Indies invites fast bowler Oshane Thomas and star batter Shimron Hetmyer for the upcoming ODI matches against India; starts on 27 July at Kensington Oval 

West Indies invited pace bowler Oshane Thomas and star batter Shimron Hetymer for the upcoming ODI match against India.  Hetmyer hasn’t featured for any Caribbean matches since a year but is considering the return for a strong reason of the India’s most important League with the Rajasthan Royals that netted a complete of 299 runs from 13 innings.

If Hetmyer performs, it’ll be his first in West Indies, considering that he featured in a T20I against New Zealand in August last year and shortly before that the talented 26-year-old missed the ICC men’s T20 world Cup campaign in Australia after he missed flight out of the Caribbean.The left-hander hasn’t played an ODI for the West Indies in years, with his last appearance in a 50-over match against Australia in July 2021.

Meanwhile, pacer Thomas, who last played for West Indies in December 2021 and has been out of field nowadays because of health troubles, has also been named in the 15-player squad, which was announced by the Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Monday.

Chief selector and West Indies great player, Desmond Haynes is looking ahead to the ODI matches against India and is sure that Hetmyer and Thomas will perform well.

“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the organization”. Oshane brings tempo and is an able wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s fashion of batting will offer plenty especially inside the center stage of the innings and he is also a capable ‘finisher’. Regulars Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder are unavailable for the tournament, with wicket-keeper and batter Shai desire all over again to be named as captain for the 3 matches.
