Here’s some exclusive with Evelyn Sharma and Mahaakshay Chakraborty, coming together on big screens with their movie ‘Ishqedarriyaan’, on 15th May 2015.

We have seen a lot of love-stories before, what different would your movie offer?

Mahaakshay: I believe the biggest commonality in the world is love. People want to be in love and want to experience every emotion that comes with it, whether it is pain or heartbreak. So, the connectivity of the film is the biggest USP because when you witness the movie, you will relate to it and see yourself in one or the other character.

Evelyn: The movie is also called a musical love story because the songs have been specially written for this movie and carries the story forward by telling what the character feels at the moment.

Evelyn, we are looking at you for the first time in an Indian avatar, was it difficult?

It is very easy for a foreigner to be a foreigner. I have been brought up in Germany and I am a half Punjabi, so even when I have played different roles they have always been of an NRI. However, in this movie I wanted to give something different to the audience because not only they but even I would get bored if I have to do same role every time. This is my eighth movie, so yes, I have grown as an actor and this role is challenging for me since she speaks only Hindi, a language which I have been learning since two and a half years only.

Getting into a different character is easy for me since I have done theatre but getting in a character which speaks a different language is a challenge. However, now I am pretty confident.

But are you a chatter box in real life too?

No I am not. I talk a lot in interviews but if you casually meet me somewhere you will find me as a quiet person.

Mahaakshay, what you have to say about your role?

We have done a lot of pre-production work in this film. I play the role of a billionaire who is based in America, so, yes; it is a lot of ying-yang in the film. The opposite attracts formula was really important, so our Director made us go through pre-production to understand everything about the character.

Adding to it, Evelyn said, I believe an actor is as good as the Director. You can give your best performance but if the direction isn’t good you cannot perform better.

Mahaakshay, do you feel stardom of your father has becomes a burden for you?

It is part of my life and the burden of being a star’s kid is what I have been carrying eversince. I don’t mind the criticism, the opinion and the expectations and I believe the sooner I embrace the better it will be. Also, I believe it is better to get a negative review rather than going unnoticed.

So, do you get guidance from Mithun Chakraborty about the kind of scripts to choose and all?

No, all the decisions are taken by me. I read the script and if it strikes the right chord I go for it. As far as, my father’s consent or guidance is concerned, he doesn’t interfere because he says it is my career so choices have to be mind too.

Evelyn, how has been your chemistry, on and off the screen, with Mahaakshay?

We both have same focus and determination. We are dedicated and come on the set completely prepared. In fact, we also have little of OCD since we want everything perfect and if we get late we get irked by it. And also, in real life we are good friends. He is such a gentleman, which is hard to find these days. He makes sure that I am comfortable, so, I am happy to find a friend like him.
