MahaShivratri: The Epic Love Saga of Shiva and Parvati

MahaShivratri: Here are a few things we can learn from Shiv and Parvati selfless devotion for one another

MahaShivratri is around the corner. This year the auspicious festival will be celebrated on February 18, 2023. As per the Hindu calendar, there are 12 Shivaratris every year. Maha Shivratri is the most important of all the Shivratris, as Maha Shivratri is the greatest of all.

MahaShivratri is considered as a bright day in the Hindu religion. It is believed that Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati on this day. Women celebrate the festival with the utmost zeal. Married women worship Lord Shiva to get blessed with blissful married life. Whereas unmarried women pray for an ideal husband like Shiva.

Shiva, the Devoted Lover

None of us has known or heard of love as selfless,

Shiva could not exist without Shakti, and Shakti did not have an existence without Shiva. The two, on this day, completed each other. It is bliss, indeed. Lord Shiva was in deep meditation after Sati’s death. On the other hand, goddess Parvati was deeply in love with him and wanted to marry him. Goddess Parvati was born to become the Universe’s mother. She devoted herself for 14 years to get married to Lord Shiva. Finally, it happened. Lord Shiva realised that Parvati was extraordinary, and they married.

Here are a few things that we can learn from their passionate love saga:

  1. Patience is essential in every relationship. Winning someone’s heart is not an easy task. It would be best if you put effort into making things work. Just like Goddess Parvati, you must keep patience to win someone ultimately.
  1. When you genuinely love someone, then separation becomes life-threatening. But we must understand that it is a part of true love’s journey. With every fork, their relationship grew more assertive.
  1. Shiva is Shakti, and Shakti is Shiva. They both are incomplete without each other. You need to entirely devote yourself to your partner for a healthy relationship. There should be no secrets.
  1. Commitment can do wonders in your life. The Ardhnarishwar form of Shiva and Shakti is the finest example. It shows the power of love and commitment.

How to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva?

May this Maha Shivratri be filled with love, light, and positivity! Let us all come together to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and spread peace and harmony.
