Manju Lulla’s ‘Purani Jeans’ is the upcoming movie to be released on 1st May this season, the film is directed by an experienced ad film maker Tanushree Chattrji Bassu. The story believes that friendship is like a purani (old) jeans, the more it gets older-the more it becomes better.

The three principle characters are performed by Tanuj Virwani, Aditya Seal and Izabelle Leite. Apart from these, the star cast includes some more names as Rati Agnihotri, Param Baidwan, Raghav Raj Kakkar and Kashyap Kapoor.

The lead actor Tanuj Virwani is a son of the veteran actress Rati Agnihotri. A source close to the production teams says,”Ratiji was shooting in Chandigarh for Shaadi Ke Side Effects. But she insisted on giving the Mahurat shot for the movie. So she drove herself for 14 hours from Chandigarh to Manali just to give the clap! All of us on the sets were overwhelmed by this gesture!” Tanuj Virwani had earlier worked in a movie ‘Luv U Soniyo’ which was released in 2013.

The ‘Purani Jeans’ is being considered as an inspiration from Farhan Akhtar’s directorial ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. On this context, Tanushri explains “If you look at DIL CHAHTA HAI, it was a very urban film. On the other hand PURANI JEANS has a small town ambience to it. I can share my own example here. For somebody like me who has grown up in the cantonment area, just to take a car out for a drive was a big thing. I have used the same incident in my film as well where a guy gets a new car and the first thing that he and his friends do is to go out on long drive to catch a rock concert. On the other hand, driving in cool cars or going to concerts and pubs wasn’t a big deal in DIL CHAHTA HAI. The boys there had seen and done it all since childhood.”
