Every fashion conscious women love to wear Victoria Secret lingerie one day because the brand is on every woman’s lip. But very few knew the man behind the mesmerizing costumes we see at the brand’s fashion shows. He is Jeff Fender, the Brooklyn based artist turned costume designer. He is responsible for designing patterns and hand-painting the fabrics and angels wing. “I started as a costume designer working for Broadway shows. They started painting on fabrics and that clicked. My sketch for VS was high appreciated and from 2010 I have been a part of that brand. I plan out the design part and in advance and then my assistants take it forward,” said Jeff Fender.

This year Fender is working on silk painted pants and oversized vinyl raincoat, the most notable of which is a Moroccan inspired skirts what consists of 40 yards of fabric. “It was not an easy task. We took a week to paint and churn out the final product. This year the fabrics include silk and vinyl, a textile I have never experimented. My this pieces are worn by celebrities include Taylor Swift, Katy Perry Nicki Minaj and Dutch model Maud Welzen They know what they want and my duty is to interpret their vision into design for the fabrics,” Fender informed. Overall look has a wow factor, because the designer started as a costume designer on Broadway.

Jeffer’s design for VS is complicated one, because expectation from high and mighty is very high. “Yes true it is not an easy task to design for the brand. People’s expectation is very high and you have to match with your design otherwise the media will blast you. “Usually the brand sends the look and then created a fabric sample to make sure that matches their requirement.” According to super model Karlie Kloss she really enjoyed wearing the specially designed lingerie and the wings were wonderful. Glad I got the chance to wear the wonder lingerie,” Karlie Kloss told the media.
