Airline Discounts To Bollywood Lovers

Thanks to an airline promotional campaign, some fans of Bollywood will also be able to fly like movie stars. Getting upgraded to first class, or having a complimentary drink is out of fashion now. The present trend is to travel at a discounted price in an international plane just because you have a ‘filmy’ name!

UK’s Virgin Atlantic Airways is offering five per cent discount on economy class and ten per cent waiver on premium economy bookings. It is Virgin Atlantic’s special way to pay homage to iconic Indian Cinema.

Passengers who share their names with the most famous film characters like- Karan, Simran, Anthony, Tina, Vijay, Pooja, Arjun, Priya, Rahul, Kiran, Rohit, and Sonia (s) can travel at their ‘name special rate’. However, it’s not first of its kind. Last year too, it flew over one thousand passengers with these shortlisted names.

The scheme is part of the Richard Branson- owned airline’s ‘Feel like a Star Campaign’. The campaign highlights the unique experience of flying and is trying to connect all Bollywood lovers.

The booking period under the scheme is from March 18 to April 17. Travel period is till July 31. Virgin Atlantic fly daily non- stop between Mumbai and Delhi to London and onward to the US. The airline is also inviting Indian Passengers to make the most of their love for Indian Cinema by flying to the most popular destinations of Bollywood movies. It includes places like London, New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Scotland.

Besides, offering discounts to the ‘reel’ named passengers, it launched a new safety video reflecting airline’s love of cinema. The video was launched in the first week of March which takes viewers through decades of Hollywood style sequences. That is, from Spaghetti western to film noir mystery, psychedelic Sergeant Pepper style to James bond. Its ultimate purpose is to entertain and inform passengers.

Last year, Virgin America released a choreographed dance number that replaced a comedic, animated interpretation of the traditional safety video.

In 2012, Virgin Atlantic carried 5.4 million passengers, making it the seventh- largest UK airline in terms of passenger volume.>
