- Toilets for the disabled
In Tamil Nadu, the Virudhunaagar district collector and his team have pioneered a scheme to build accessible toilets for persons with disabilities.
For now, disabled-friendly toilets have been covered in 5 homes, and construction of another 10 is underway.
The toilets have a ramp, a western commode, a hand faucet, railings for easy movement, and are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
2. ASI stadium named after Neeraj Chopra
During his visit to Army Sports Institute, Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister) Rajnath Singh named the Army sports Institute Stadium as Neeraj Chopra Stadium and unveiled it. The Army sports Institute (ASI) is established to give world-class infrastructure and train sportspersons with systematic and sustained talent hunt, state of the art training.
The Defence Minister also felicitated all the armed forces personnel who participated in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

- Maternity leave duration increased
Fulfilling its manifesto promise, the Tamil Nadu government has increased the duration of maternity leave from 9 months to 1 year for its employees.
This would apply to women who have less than two surviving children with effect from July 1. This would help in increasing the count of babies who are breastfed in the first 6 months of their life.

Citizens will now be able to enjoy air-conditioned rail travel as Indian Railways dipped the fare price of AC class coaches. Indian railways have fixed the fare of AC 3 economy class at affordable rates. To encourage people to use this service, the AC3 economy class fare is kept less than AC3 coaches.
- Park for the differently-abled
Bhubaneswar will soon get a dedicated park for the differently-abled. The Park will have an insulated pathway, playing equipment, an open-air gym, and other facilities that comply with the universal accessibility guidelines.
The rides and equipment in the park provide the specially-abled kids with a safe and beautiful ambience to play and learn.
6.Bhavina Patel, 1st Indian TT player to enter in Paralympics finals

Bringing great news for Indians, Bhavina Patel became the first Indian table tennis player to enter finals in the Paralympics. She defeated world number 3, Zhang Miao of China, in the Semi-Finals of the women’s singles class 4 event. Bhavina will now take on Ying Zhou of China in the gold medal match on Sunday.
- From 0 to majority school girls
Chandana Dutt, a teacher from Bihar is one of 44, selected for the National Teacher Award 2021. When she joined in 20015, there was no girl in the school.
Since then, she has visited nearby localities to encourage parents to get their daughters educated.
Her efforts resulted in girls joining the school, and now, 60% of students in the school are girls.
8.Once a mess boy now rescues trafficked women & children
Baidnath Kumar was enrolled in a government school and worked as a mess boy at the Administrative Training Institute.
The Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) came into force when Kumar was about 18. Being a mess boy, he heard speakers discuss the issue and learned.
Today, Baidnath has rescued over 5000 trafficked children and women in about a decade.
- Recruitment of female cadets
For the first time, the Sainik School at Korukonda, Andhra Pradesh will be admitting girl cadets.
For welcoming the first batch of 10 female students, the school would be recruiting a female matron and has also allocated a separate hostel block, a physical training instructor and a nursing assistant.
- Villagers build their dam
The villagers of Bhompura village in Rajasthan took a special initiative to preserve water by creating a huge check dam themselves. They took this step without any government assistance and an investment of Rs 45 lakh.
The recent spell of rain in eastern Rajasthan proved to be a big boon for people as the dam has now filled up to store around 15 feet of water in the reservoir.
The villagers had brought 6 JCBs and 46 tractors to construct the giant check dam in a record 29 days.
