Netizens fumed Over Ranbir Kapoor after he threw a fan’s phone in the air. But here is the truth behind the event.

On social media, a video shows Ranbir Kapoor throwing off a male fan’s phone after he tried to click a selfie with him. After he posed happily for the selfie, the Bharamastra actor threw the fan’s phone in the air. In the comment section, netizens attacked the actor for his attitude shortly after seeing the video. 

One wrote, “This is so rude of him”. Another wrote, “Itna Attitude?” 

Nevertheless, soon RK’s fans came out in support of the actor and clarified that the shoot was for an advertisement. “It was all scripted and was part of his ad shoot”, said a supporter. 

The truth was confirmed by none other than the Smartphone Company Oppo. According to Oppo, it was a promotional stunt and marketing strategy. They tweeted on the same video, “Why did Ranbir throw away a fan’s phone? Tweet #AStepAbove to reveal exclusive footage.”

In another tweet, the company shows upgrading the old Smartphone of the fan with a new one. “Just in case you’ve missed it, #RanbirKapoor hands a fan an upgrade of a lifetime with the new #OPPOReno8T , The new OPPO RENO 8T strikes the perfect balance between immersive visuals & a relaxed grip for an all-round premium experience; Releasing Feb 3rd”, tweeted the company . 

However, some criticised the company for coming out with the worst marketing strategy, as it has hampered the actor’s image to a certain extent.

Whatever the case, we can’t deny that Ranbir Kapoor and the actor playing the fan managed to fool many with their brilliant acting skills. Agree or Not?

The Oppo Reno 8T will launch in India on Feb 3. Ranbir Kapoor is the brand ambassador of Oppo, thus has been promoting the Oppo Reno smartphone earlier as well.
