BJP And Congress Protests Over Ticket Distribution

Election ticket disputes lead to protests within BJP and Congress in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, with upcoming state elections adding to the tension.

Ticket Distribution Sparks Protests in BJP and Congress in Rajasthan and MP

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has announced candidates for 228 out of 230 seats. Supporters of BJP aspirants Sharad Jain and Dheeraj Pateriya caused a commotion outside the party office in Jabalpur, even in the presence of Union Cabinet Minister Bhupendra Yadav. The situation escalated as party workers clashed with Yadav’s security team. Similar protests occurred outside Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s residence in Gwalior. Despite these incidents, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar assured the media that the situation in the state is under control.

Ticket Discontent in Madhya Pradesh

The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh is also facing discontent among its workers due to ticket distribution. Some even resorted to burning an effigy of Digvijay Singh. Damodar Singh Yadav, Vice-President of Madhya Pradesh Congress, resigned because he couldn’t secure the desired tickets for OBC candidates. Furious Congress workers protested outside former CM Kamalnath’s residence in Shujalpur, blocking Deepak Joshi’s car, displaying black flags, and damaging the car’s windows.

In western India, Rajasthan is also witnessing political unrest. Last week, BJP workers staged a protest against Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in Ajmer. Angry BJP workers further demonstrated outside the party office in Jaipur.

Rajasthan is set to hold elections on November 25, and Madhya Pradesh will follow on November 17, 2023, with the counting scheduled for December 3.
