Himachal Tourism Bounces Back with Post-Disaster Discounts and Inviting Attractions


In response to the recent floods and landslides that have severely impacted tourism in Himachal Pradesh, the state is making efforts to attract tourists by offering discounts. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is offering a 50% discount on room bookings in its hotels until September 15. Private hotels in the state are also providing discounts ranging from 30% to 50% on room bookings, with some upscale establishments offering additional perks like a free third night or complimentary meals for guests.

Tourism Recovery Amid Challenges

The Federation of Himachal Hotel and Restaurants Association aims to revive the tourism industry, which suffered significant losses due to heavy monsoon rains that caused damage to the state’s infrastructure. Himachal Pradesh was declared a natural calamity-affected area after the extensive destruction in July and August. This initiative comes as the tourism industry was still recovering from the losses incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Himachal Tourism Boost

The Travel Agents Association of Himachal Pradesh is offering discounts of 25% to 30% on tour packages and has waived charges for children up to 12 years traveling with their parents. Taxi operators are also providing free pick-up and drop-off services for tourists booking sightseeing packages. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has invited tourists to the state, emphasizing that a budget-friendly holiday awaits them. This initiative has led to increased hotel inquiries and tour package bookings, according to Manu Sood, the general secretary of the Travel Agents Association.
