Deoria Killings Update: Section 144 Imposed In Fatehpur Village As People Opposed The Revenue Department!

Following a horrific land dispute that claimed six lives, locals in Fatehpur village, Uttar Pradesh, protested a land measurement operation by the Revenue Department. For one month, Section 144 was put into effect in the region.

Deoria Killings Update: Local Protest Again Visit Of Revenue Department, Section 144 Imposed In Fatehpur

Locals in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur village opposed the measuring of a gram sabha land on Monday, according to a senior official. The Revenue Department team had been inspecting the area where six people were killed in a land dispute. Six days after the tragic incident, a team from the Revenue Department went to Fatehpur village. When they arrived at Prem Chand Yadav’s home, who had been killed in the incident, they encountered resistance from the locals.

In the Fatehpur Gram Sabha region of Rudrapur, section 144 was immediately implemented for one month. Prem Yadav, a 50-year-old former district panchayat member, was killed on October 2 by Satyaprakash Dubey and his family after being attacked with sharp-edged weapons while on his way to his home.

Soon after, in revenge, Yadav’s supporters from Abhaipur attacked Dubey’s home and brutally murdered him along with five members of his family, including children.

Since then, a sizable police presence has been stationed in the area to uphold the law. Premchand Yadav was the subject of a complaint by Dubey to the revenue department, who claimed that Premchand Yadav had constructed his home on gram sabha land.

On Monday, a large number of people sat in front of the revenue team as they approached Premchand Yadav’s home, leading Rudrapur CO Anshuman Srivastav to hastily arrive at the location.

Some locals were upset, but Chief Revenue Officer Rajnish Rai, who was there, claimed the situation is normal now. He added that three tehsildars (revenue workers) had also examined the area and that the appropriate legal action would be taken.

Vyas Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party district unit, said that the revenue authority. did not carry out the measurements following the law. Arvind Sahni, the party’s district vice president, also charged that the government of Uttar Pradesh was not conducting the task impartially.
