In a series of tweets, Kejriwal emphasized that it’s the L-G’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the city. This tragic Shahbad Dairy Murder Case has sparked a heated political debate and highlighted the need for greater safety measures for women in Delhi.

The Horrific Incident

In a tragic incident that occurred on Sunday, a young girl of sixteen lost her life in a horrifying act of violence. The unfortunate event took place in the Shahbad Dairy area of northwest Delhi when the victim was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend. She was allegedly repeatedly stabbed by the suspect, Sahil (20), before being struck with a stone. A video of the gruesome crime has been widely shared on social media, leading to outrage and calls for justice.

After being attacked by the accused, the victim—a resident of JJ Colony in Shahbad Dairy—was discovered laying on the street. The police have reported that the couple was involved in a romantic relationship, but they had a disagreement on Saturday. The victim planned to attend a friend’s son’s birthday party on Sunday, but was intercepted and repeatedly stabbed by her boyfriend.She was also hit with a stone on the head.

Kejriwal’s Call for Action

In response to the shocking crime, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to express his concern and call for action from the Lieutenant Governor. He wrote, “A minor girl was brutally murdered in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. Criminals have lost their fear of the police and are now unafraid. You are in charge of maintaining law and order, LG Sir.  Take action.”

Kejriwal’s tweet highlights the ongoing issue of law and order in the city, and the need for the authorities to take responsibility for ensuring the safety of its citizens.

Political Reactions and Blame Game

The Shahbad Dairy murder has sparked a heated political debate in Delhi, with several leaders from different parties weighing in on the issue. Atishi, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), strongly criticized the Lieutenant Governor (L-G), emphasizing that the Constitution has entrusted him with the crucial duty of safeguarding the residents of the Union Territory. She urged him to pay attention to the safety of the women in Delhi, who she claims are not safe at all.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra also reacted to the incident, saying, “This painful murder has happened in Delhi. Shraddha has not got justice yet. How many more Shraddhas? I guess the answer will always remain tragic for us.”

In the nation’s capital, “no one is afraid” of the police or the law, according to Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal. In this case, if no action is taken, boundless cruelty will be unleashed without limits,“she said.

National Commission for Women’s Intervention

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has intervened in the case, requesting the Delhi police to take strict action. Chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to conduct a fair and time-bound investigation in the matter and arrest the accused at the earliest.

The Commission has established a team consisting of three members, led by Delina Khongdup, to investigate the matter. The team plans to visit both the victim’s family and the relevant police officials to conduct a thorough investigation.

Accused Arrested and Legal Proceedings

Sahil, the accused in the Shahbad Dairy murder case, has been arrested from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. At the Shahbad Dairy police station, a FIR under Section 302 of the IPC has been filed against him.

According to the police, the exact number of times the victim was stabbed will be determined by the post-mortem examination. The 20-year-old accused is a fridge-AC repairing mechanic.

Demands for Fast-Track Court

In light of the brutal crime, there have been demands for a fast-track court to handle the case. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva demanded the trial be conducted swiftly to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
