Delhi Temperature: Steady at 25.3°C as IMD predicts and Rain Forecast in Delhi and Monsoon Delay Impact

On a Monday morning, the national capital experienced a minimum temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius, and the meteorological department’s forecast indicated the likelihood of light rain persisting throughout the day.

At 8:30 a.m., the relative humidity level was reported to be at 78 per cent, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Safdarjung Observatory, serving as Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius, which is typical for this season.

Monsoon and Weather Update

The meteorological experts explained that the monsoon trough is currently positioned south of Delhi, extending through Rajasthan. Simultaneously, there is an active weather system in central India. These conditions are responsible for Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) receiving moisture from both these sources, leading to the possibility of scattered light rain until Friday.

The maximum temperature for the day is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius. The IMD’s forecast calls for a generally cloudy sky with the likelihood of light rain later in the day.

Delhi NCR Weather Forecast

In the meantime, the Delhi Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted overcast conditions in specific areas of the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) until September 20. September 18 is expected to be predominantly cloudy with the potential for scattered light rain and drizzle in various parts of Delhi NCR.

Monsoon Delay Impact

The continuation of the monsoon’s active phase suggests that the withdrawal process has not yet commenced across the country. Typically, the monsoon withdraws from Rajasthan by September 17 and from Delhi by September 25. An IMD official stated, “Until there is rain across the region, the withdrawal will not be declared. Once there is a break in rain activity and several districts are dry, then the withdrawal criteria can be met.”

IMD officials have emphasized that the ongoing active phase of the monsoon in northwest and central India will likely cause a delay in its withdrawal, as more rainfall is expected until Friday.
