In Udupi district Man gets rigorous punishment of 20-year jail on charges of sexual assault on a minor girl
MANGALURU: The Udupi district additional and sessions court (POCSO court) has to sentence a 32-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on charges of a minor girl sexual assault in Kota police limits 4 years ago.
According to the filled charge sheet, the man had made friends with a 15-year-old minor girl and one day, on the pretext of giving her a ride to school in his car, he exerted force on her and took her to a residence owned by another individual who was also accused in the case, as reported by PTI.

Charge sheet to the POCSO court:
He sexually abused the minor girl and dropped her back home. He additionally intimidated and cautioned her against revealing the incident to anyone. However, the girl eventually confided in her family members, leading them to file a formal complaint with the police.The inquiry was carried out by Deputy SP Jaishankar, who presented the charge sheet to the POCSO court.

Fine and compensation:
The victim paid Rs 13,000 of the fine amount directly to the court. The government has decided to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the minor girl. However, the court cleared the other accused in the case due to a lack of sufficient evidence. The prosecution for this case is undertaken by Advocates YT Raghavendra and Harishchandra.
