There was a time when only a visit to the doctor or hospital could tell how your health was- but now, even a smartwatch can do it. In the latest, Apple unveils health features for iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and watchOS 10 which prove that maybe all we need is an Apple product to keep our health in check.

So what are these new health features that have been introduced by Apple? Let’s find out.

Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health says- “Our goal is to empower people to take charge of their own health journey. With these innovative new features, we’re expanding the comprehensive range of health and wellness tools that we offer our users across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.”

  • Apple has introduced mental health and vision health features for all its users. 
  • The mental health feature will allow users to log in their momentary emotions, daily moods and also get access to assessments and resources. 
  • In order to promote healthy vision, the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch will promote behaviours that reduce habits that cause Myopia
  • The Health App will now be available for the iPad as well. It keeps all your health information in one place. 
  •  The Health app and the Mindfulness app will help people reflect on how they feel and their state of mind. 
  • The users can choose emotions that range from very pleasant to very unpleasant. 
  • Users will also be able to select associations that have an impact on their feelings such as family, travel or friends. 
  • The idea is to help the users use the insights for better decisions or to manage their health. 
  • The vision health will help track the amount of time spent in sunlight as it reduces the risk of myopia or nearsightedness in children 
  • The new Screen Distance feature will also promote the use of a health distance when using the device or a book. There should be a distance of 12 inches between the screen and the eyes. 
  • Healthy viewing habits will also be promoted and reduce digital eye strain.
