Junior India men hockey Team Gears Up for 4 Nations Tournament with Singh as Leader; Spain, Germany, and England Await

After the national camp held at SAI Centre in Bengaluru from June to August, the junior India men hockey team is gearing up for the 4 Nations Tournament – Dusseldorf 2023. Their campaign commences against Spain on August 18, followed by matches against Germany on August 19 and England on August 21. The final match is scheduled for August 22, contributing to their preparation for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 in Malaysia from December 5 to 16.

Singh Leads; Experience Gained:

Vishnukant Singh leads the team in the absence of Uttam Singh due to injury. Reflecting on their growth, he expresses the tournament’s significance for gaining experience against top European teams. While Spain and Germany pose challenges, India maintains a healthy head-to-head record at the junior level. In 2016-2021 clashes, India won three out of four matches against Spain and Germany. Coach CR Kumar emphasizes executing plans and focusing on strengths for favorable outcomes.

India secured Men’s Junior World Cup qualification by winning the Asia Cup 2023, claiming a historic fourth title. The tourney presents a platform for continued progress and confidence-building ahead of the crucial FIH Junior World Cup.
