Delhi Book Fair to be held virtually this year on 30-31st Oct

Delhi Book Fair will have more than 20 webinars, 100 exhibitors, and more than 5000 books.


 

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Delhi Book Fair which is held every year in the Pragati Maidan will be held virtually this year. The Delhi Book Fair will be organized on October 30th and 31st 2020 by the Federation of Indian Publishers. 7

Dr. Ashok Gupta, General Secretary, Federation of Indian Publishers, while addressing the media persons at the curtain-raiser press conference, said, “Keeping pace with the Digital India vision of the Government of India, the Federation of Indian Publishers has decided to organize the event digitally this year keeping in mind the safety of all. We are committed to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and other protocols. The book fair, grandly held in digital format, will bring together publishers, writers, distributors and bookies on a single platform.”

Dr. Kapil Gupta, CEO, e-Pragati said, “the book fair will have more than 5000 books and above 100 exhibitors. It will have more than 20 webinars.”

Dr. Kapil Gupta further said, “A dedicated e-commerce website has been launched given the virtual book fair where books of many publishers will be available on the platform and users will be able to buy their favorite book with just one click.”

How you can participate in the book fair?

Participants can contact at events@fiponline.org to join the book fair. The Delhi Book Fair was started in 1995 and is organized every year by the Federation of Indian Publishers at Pragati Maidan. The book fair is attended by millions of students and book lovers every year.

An online literature festival ‘Pragati Prasad’ is also being organized at this book fair giving an opportunity to hear and talk about the issues related to the book publishing community as well as the views of thinkers and writers on various social aspects.

A painting competition is also being organized by Pogo TV and Cartoon Network for children. Different events organized by many other schools will be the major attraction of this virtual book fair.

This time there will be no restrictions and limitations for exhibitors and visitors in the virtual Delhi Book Fair. Keeping this vision in mind, the Federation of Indian Publishers has organized the organizers of several book fairs internationally including Singapore Book Fair, Sharjah International Book Fair, Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair) and Nigeria International Book Fair, to be part of the Delhi Book Fair 2020.

The Delhi Book Fair to be held on October 30-31st will be hosted by PragatiE, a new and tech-oriented platform. Various types of events are organized in virtual or digital form on this platform, from small to large scale. This year, exhibitors will display a variety of books on this digital platform to consumers around the world, which viewers will be able to buy with a click of the mouse. In addition to a session of reading of informative webinars and books, visitors can be directly connected with live chat.
