Clocks are basically used for telling the exact time. However, if it is a beautiful piece of art apart from being just an instrument, it can also serve as a wall-hanging or as a decorative accessory. There are few artists round the globe who have come up with some new varieties of clocks which is replacing the simple clocks in the market.
Knit Clock

The most unique one is a clock that knits. Designed by Siren Elise Wilhelmsen, this remarkable clock knits in every half hour. In twenty-four hours, this clock completes one round of knitting and by the end of the year, it produces a two-meter long (6’5”) scarf. Subsequently, after one year, the yarn can be replaced with a new one to produce another product.

Another one is a Word Clock designed by Doug Jackson of Australia. The most special feature about it is that the clock is handmade by the artist who creates a different one for each of his customers. People can even visit his website and customize a new design for themselves choosing materials from his kit which are available on the website. The purpose of creating a word clock was to help educate people about simple electronic design and construction by designing it the way they want.

The third type is a Concrete Clock designed by 22 Design Studio based in Taiwan. It is a four-dimension clock which looks like a spiral staircase and the time is displayed by different patterns of light and shade.
Manifold Clock

Manifold Clock is another magnificent product designed by Studio Ve of Israel. The clock’s hands are connected with a piece of flexible sheet to create 3D movement. It displays a new form of reading time which changes every minute. The clock is made up of ABS Enduro paper which is a good material for printing purposes. The clock is available in pixel, halftone and spring stripes.

The next-in-line is a beautiful giant clock called The Clock Clock made up of 24 analog clocks with standard hour and minute hands. The clock is a mix up of old, new, analog and digital clocks, all in one. In this, twenty-four clocks create one giant display with six clocks making up a number. This unique clock is designed by ‘Humans since 1982’ in association with Australian designer David Cox.
