The Man who Dares to Dream

The Man who Dares to Dream

Meet Arun Krishna, a 27 year old man who is a part of the internal audit team for a multinational and aspires to open a salon one day. He worked as a hair dresser for three years after which he moved to a routine office job. Now, before most of you wonder that this man is as mundane as any other MNC professional, let me break the ice. What makes Arun Krishna unique is that he is also an auto rickshaw driver. Yes, a man with a flair for hair styling and an aptitude to audit, drives an auto; everyday.

A multi tasking man day in day out

This multi-skillful man’s daily routine includes waking up at 5am, working out and getting ready to be on the road with his auto. He drives for three hours straight after which he comes back, prepares breakfast and is on the go for the next task, a typical 10 to 5 job. Soon after, he puts on his rickshaw uniform and drives again till midnight. Getting tired is not something inscribed on his mechanism.

Work is all that is for him

Ask him why he does two extremely divergent jobs and he says, “I don’t believe in one work being shallow and the other being great. I just feel that God has fitted a key in all our bodies for 70 years on an average. So, as long as I have strength in my muscles and grit in my mind, I will endlessly work to achieve my dream which is to have a salon of my own and take that brand to a next level popularity across the country. I am only eyeing on my future at the moment and that is what drives me to not waste my time doing nothing. For many, it gets very hard to digest the fact that an auto driver can be as educated as them. But this only motivates me further, I am helping them by giving them a service for which they pay me and that money will in turn help me to turn my dream into reality.”

He can talk confidently about his beliefs and morals

If that’s not enough, he also wants to open a food factory. He said, “There are two good things in this industry, you earn money and also earn blessings. But I will make sure this food reaches the under privileged people at most and if need be, I’ll distribute grains for free because as harsh as it sounds, the food grains listed to reach the malnourished actually never reach them in the right amount.”

The untamed; who will not stop chasing his dreams

Growing up years saw him failing his tenth exam and dropping for two years. He almost made up his mind of giving up on studies when a friend jumped in stating the importance of education. Eventually, he cleared both his metric and higher secondary and went on to enroll himself in a professional course at VLCC where he learnt cosmetology, hair dressing and body spa. He then went to Gujarat, worked in a salon for a year and thereafter went to Daman in the same profession. That was where he imbibed spirituality and ‘service before self’ from his employer, a man, as Arun says, with all the riches and yet grounded to his roots.
