The Supreme Court on Monday passed an order in the Cauvery water dispute that made it necessary for the Karnataka state government to release 15,000 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu for 10 days. Karnataka farmers protest after SC’s order.

This led to the farmers and activists being agitated with the order because of which they have staged protests at various parts of Karnataka.

The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi also called for a bandh on Tuesday in Mandya. The protests are taking place because “there is hardly any water left at our side of the river”, says former MP Made Gowda.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be meting leaders of all the parties on Tuesday evening to take a call on how the situation is to be handled.
