As we approach the 30s, our skin starts experiencing changes. It is the time when you should devote extra time and special attention to your skin.  You may no longer worry about pimples and oiliness. While speaking to ETimes, Dr Uma Rani, Senior Consultant on Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute in New Delhi revealed, “Thirty is the age of adult life. So, all the structures of the skin and body will show adulthood changes. Skin also has various types of texture i.e., normal, dry & oily. There are no major changes seen throughout menstrual cycles. We might notice a few changes like pimples or oily skin during pregnancy because of hormonal changes.”

“We should keep our skin healthy by following a CTM routine and keeping it hydrated.”, she added.

 1: Start with a right face wash

As we grow older and wiser, the first thing we start noticing is that our skin is getting drier than before. This can be a matter of concern for those who were already battling dry skin in their teens and twenties.

Subsequently, we need to prepare the skin by cleansing it with the perfect face wash. You have to choose a facewash that strikes the balance. A face wash containing soft cleansing ingredients and lemon extract. It is very important to be gentle on your skin.  It is a perfect way to start the morning.

2: Invest in a good serum

A good serum used with a good moisturizer will help you to protect the dermal layer of the skin.  Go for a serum that is rich in Vitamin C, loaded with Retinol or antioxidants. It will cure pigmentation and pores. 

3: Do not forget to tone

Toning is a very important step that is usually skipped by most of us. It is vital for CTM (cleansing, toning, and moisturizing) routine for ageing skin.

With time, pores are very evidently visible. Therefore, a toner is a perfect way to balance skin after cleansing.

A toner should be capable of tightening pores and removing impurities. Most toners contain alcohol. A non-alcoholic toner is advisable as it works gently on ageing dry skin. Let’s set it all over your face. Let it soak in, and you will feel that your skin feels fresh and soft throughout the day. This will also reduce open pores. You will notice that your skin will look much smoother.

4: Use a good anti-ageing cream

After cleansing and toning, it is essential to moisturize your skin. This sets your skin well for the rest of the day irrespective of whether you wear makeup or not. It helps to create a perfect base for skin to look healthy all day.

An anti-ageing cream should glide on the skin easily and should get absorbed even more easily. It should not leave a chip-chip residue or extra oiliness. The cream has to be light and filled with nourishment. Choosing the right cream will add a glow to your skin. An anti-ageing cream with 15 SPF (sun protection factor) will work as you will not require another sunscreen. It will fulfil both requirements- sun protection and moisturization. 

Note: If you want to use sunscreen you can use it. It will protect you from harmful sun rays that aggravate spots and fine lines. Choose a sunscreen with zinc oxide. It will aid to fight radicals that harm healthy skin cells.

5: Night care

Your skin works differently at night. This is the time when your skin is actually in a healing process. So, with day-care, you should also practice night care routines. Night creams will help you to regenerate your skin when you are taking a deep sleep. You can also apply serums before moisturizing as a skin hydration boost at night.

6: Use an eye cream

The eye skin area is way more sensitive than the rest of the body. This is the first part to witness ageing signs.

There are special eye creams that you can use. Gently massage the cream around the eye. You can also opt for regular cream. Practising this on a regular basis will boost collagen.
