Holi the festival of colour is around the corner and we cannot keep calm! We are already feeling the festive vibe in the air. Right from the burst of vibrant colours to some heavenly gujiyas and bhang pakoras. Holi is the most awaited festival in India. Food items do have some prominence during religious festival but there’s something different about Holi wala khana.  Let’s have a look at dishes that makes Holi so special, and why we remember it for more than just the colours.

1. Gujjiya – The king of sweets

Holi is totally incomplete without gujjiyas. Mostly famous in northern parts of the country. Gujjiyas are made of maida and carefully filled with just the right amount of khoya, dry fruits, coconut.

2. Malpua

Malpua is a traditional Indian sweet. It is fried in ghee and dipped in sugar syrup. Malpuas are a not-so-complex preparation of flour, suji, sugar, ghee and milk.

3. Do get some Bhaangover

If Holi begins with Gujjiya, then it surely ends with Bhaang. It has become synonymous with Holi. Ayurveda describe this herbs beneficial for releasing anxiety. Do not miss out on Bhaang laddoos in your food menu and just witness the increase in the rush.

4. Papri Chaat

This delicious fast food is famous during Holi. This loved snack is made with crispy dough wafers served with chickpea and boiled potatoes, tamrind chutneys and yogurt.

5. Badam Kulfi

Holi signals the onset of summer and summer calls for some lip-smacking cold desserts. Some people also prefer to add Kesar (saffron) to the kulfi.
