Ceramist Sakshi Agarwal: A Visionary Artist Redefining Contemporary Clay Art and Celebrating Innovation at CeramicsFest Delhi 2025

Ceramist Sakshi Agarwal is a New Delhi–based contemporary ceramic artist and industrial designer whose work stands at the intersection of craftsmanship, form, and conceptual exploration. With a master’s degree in industrial design from Scuola Politecnica di Design, Italy, she began her creative practice rooted in structural design thinking before transitioning fully into ceramics in 2017. Her training under Madhur Sen at Blue Turtle Studio helped shape her understanding of clay as both a functional and expressive medium.

A Unique Fusion of Art and Design

Sakshi’s practice is distinguished by her ability to merge wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques, creating pieces that honor tactile craft while elevating visual geometry. Her works showcase meticulous carving, textural layering, and surface patterning reminiscent of architectural grids or richly woven tapestries. Through weaving geometric rhythms into clay, she constructs sculptural vessels that become repositories of memory, perception, and physical engagement. Every piece is designed not only to be seen, but to be experienced, inviting viewers into a dialogue between form and emotion.

International Exposure and Artistic Growth

Over the years, Sakshi has broadened her artistic horizons through prestigious international residencies. In 2024, she worked at the Taoxichuan International Studio in Jingdezhen, China—widely known as the porcelain capital of the world. Immersed in centuries-old ceramic culture, she deepened her appreciation of traditional processes and global craft language.

In 2025, she continued her journey at Midland Junction Arts Centre in Australia, where she also presented at the WEDGE Australian Ceramics Triennale as an invited demonstrator. This opportunity provided her a platform for global visibility and artistic exchange with leading ceramic practitioners.

Her achievements were further recognized when she won the Excellence Award at the 12th Shiwan Cup International Youth Ceramic Art Competition in 2024, honoring her conceptual clarity and precision in clay.
