Kisne Feka: Two Muslim men hacked Kanhaiya Lal to death in Udaipur, Rajasthan, after he supported now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Several social media users claim that a mob of protesters in Rajsamand, Rajasthan, attacked a constable with a sword while protesting the arrest of killers involved in the murder of Kanhaiya Lal.

Foolproof: The viral claim is false. Jansatta reported on 29 June 2022 that a person protesting against the killing of Tailor Kanhaiya Lal attacked police constable Sandeep Chaudhary with a sword. Protesters were trying to enter a community area. When the police tried to stop them, they attacked them in which constable Sandeep was hit with a sword.

Clash between Buddhists & Muslim in Ladakh!

Fake News: Zee News’ video showing people marching across a hilly landscape has gone viral online. The report said that Maulvis and radical persons had stopped the Buddhists from establishing a temple in Kargil, Ladakh. It shows a “clash” between the Buddhist and Muslim communities in Kargil in Ladakh.

Foolproof: The viral claim is misleading. In a First Post article dated 14 June 2022, the Buddhist minorities in Kargil complained about the Muslim majority opposing the reconstruction of an ancient Gompa (Buddhist monastery). An ‘Eco Pad Yatra’ from Leh towards Kargil on 31 May was organized by Buddhist teacher and speaker Choekyong Palga Rinpoche. However, the officials in the L-G administration stopped the ‘peace march’ by Choskyong Palga Rinpoche at Mulbekh, 35 km from Kargil town.

Police to beat those who hurl stones on police stations!

Kisne Feka: It was reported that police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel were ordered in 8 districts to beat up anyone who throws stones at the police or the station fails to act. The Area’s Station Officer (SO) and Circle Officer (CO) will be fired.

Foolproof: Following the protests against now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks on prophet Mohammed, communal violence has erupted in cities and towns such as Meerut, Saharanpur, and Ranchi, among others. However, the viral claim is false.

The Addl. Superintendent of Police (City) Saharanpur Rajesh Kumar confirmed that no such order had been given to the police in the city and that it was not related to Saharanpur. Additionally, the Circle Officer of Cantt, Meerut, Chandra Kant Meena, confirmed the same for Meerut, saying that no such order has been given. However, the other cities in UP have all been on high alert.

Fake News: A video of 2 young men pouring beer on a Shivling while Shiv bhakti music plays in the background is going viral with a claim that they are both from the Muslim community, and the video is from Chandigarh.

Foolproof: The viral claim is false. Similar footage can be seen in a report of Dainik Bhaskar dated 26 June 2022. Vinod Kumar of Panchkula, Naresh alias Kalia of Manimajra, and Vivek of Bapudham are identified in the video as the three accused. In the video, two of these accused are seen while one is making a video.

The Chandigarh Police have identified the drug addict youth and his accomplices who offered beer to Shivling. SHO Rohtash Yadav of IT Park police station said that the crime did not occur in his jurisdiction. This crime, however, was reported to his police station. The raw rain river flowing in the video does not appear to be from Chandigarh. UT Police have received the video and complaint.
