Yoga can improve the quality of life of people with heart rhythm disturbances

Yoga can improve the quality of life in patients suffering from heart rhythm disturbances, as it gives them a way to gain some self-control over their symptoms instead of feeling powerless, according to a new study.

The researchers examined the effects of yoga in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) in which defective electrical signals rapidly starts and then suddenly stops.

Patients with paroxysmal AF experience episodes of AF usually lasts less than 48 hours and pass by themselves, although in some cases it can last up to seven days.

The team included 80 patients with paroxysmal AF, who were randomly assigned to yoga or a control group that does not do yoga.
