Selfishness is having regard just for oneself and putting others down. However, self-love is different because in that you indulge in giving yourself the importance and love you deserve. It is the first step towards being healthy and having higher self- esteem.

The act of self-love ensures that your confidence remains strong. It also helps you accept who you are and not be affected by what the society says. In today’s world where society plays such a huge part in our life, it is important to understand the various invisible forces that shape what we think of ourselves. Be it the media, the societal norms, the unspoken and unrealistic expectations- all influence our self- esteem.

Self-love and criticism

Loving yourself will also lead you to criticize yourself less and blame yourself for things around you. The most important thing that this small act will do is that it will change the world around you and how you view it. It will keep you happier and improve social relations.
