Ronaldo’s Portugal in the semifinals of Euro

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal fought his way to a place in the European Championship semifinals on Thursday, winning the penalty shootout 5-3 to Poland in the quarterfinals tense finale.

Young sensation Renato Sanches, who scored Portugal s house and broke one of the sanctions, said it was a “wonderful for the team and for me to score now.”

Portugal has reached the semifinals without winning a single game within 90 minutes.

“People criticize us, but we did not care, because we are in the semifinals,” Sanches said after Portugal reached the semifinals for the fourth time in the last five European championships.

Poland had started strongly, with Robert Lewandowski scored his first goal of Euro 2016 in two minutes in Marseille clash before Sanches 18 years old, his new teammate at Bayern Munich, equalized with a shot powerfully driven. The game then went through the extension deadlocked at 1-1.

The goalkeeper Rui Patricio and Ricardo Quaresma were heroes in the Portugal shootout.
