Ban lifted on retrofitted CNG

The Delhi government on Thursday postponed its decision to revoke the prohibition of conditioning equipment to CNG vehicles (“in use”), just two days after Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said the transportation department will start registration again.

The ban was imposed last week after the government received complaints about “not approved and certified” kits supplied to unsuspecting customers.

However, Jain said on Thursday, that the government has decided to revoke the ban only after the transportation department inspects all registered manufacturers and distributors in the city that supply fuel CNG kits in Retro-fitting centers. then having received a complaint that some manufacturers supplying fuel CNG kits not approved and certified, the government banned the adaptation of car kits ‘in use’.

Transportation Department officials were sent to inspect the premises of six manufacturers registered as part of the research we were doing. They found that most manufacturers were operating under suspicious circumstances of one room stores.
