After a gap of nearly 40 days, the Indo-Nepal border at Raxaul finally opened today. This border holds special significance, as nearly three fourth of the India – Nepal trade takes place through this border.

Blocked by Madhesis (Nepalese of Indian origin), living predominantly in the Nepalese Terai region had blocked this road for want of changes in the Nepalese Constitution.

With the clearing of the blockade almost two hundred trucks have rolled into India from Nepal. Traffic from India is expected to resume shortly.
