Consume fish during pregnancy to keep your kids away from food allergies

Fish consumption during consumption can keep your kids away from allergies

Fish intake reduces the risk of allergies

Pregnancy: Women who usually consume oily fish while they are pregnant or during breast-feeding may further decrease the risk of their children from developing food allergies, asthma, eczemas or hay fever, researchers have found.

The findings have also shown that children have introduced to fish and eggs — major source of omega 3 fatty acids — before 11 months of their age had a lower risk of developing allergies. ‘Fish intake in the family seems to further reduce the risk of allergies,’said Karin Jonsson from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, in a statement.

Kids who eat fish, eggs and also flour early in life were further found to have less allergies, as they had higher levels of omega-3 in their blood.

The results have shown that at birth, and again at four months of age, the healthy children had higher proportions of the omega-3 fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid, EPA, in their blood.’ The levels corresponded with the mother’s intake of the fatty fish. The mothers of children with higher proportions of omega-3 in the blood had been further eating a lot of fish during pregnancy and lactations, and we could also see some evidence of this in their breastmilk,’ Jonsson explained.

Some healthy ways to enjoy fish eating

Some of the healthy ways to enjoy eating fish are — grilling, steaming, poaching, stir-frying, broiling, pressure cooking.

Always try and go for fresh fish rather than the canned ones as they are always loaded with some sort of unwanted salt and preservatives.

When we fry fish, it becomes some high in fat and less healthy so further avoid doing this or cooking it in heavy coconut or peanut curries.

Try consuming fish twice a week/100g per week is very much safe and healthy.

Moreover, a low-fat grilled fish is always the healthiest option.

So, just try eating fish in order to avoid any further food allergies in your children.
