Class 10 board exams likely to revive from 2018:- The NDA government is all set to re-establish Class 10 board exams for students affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from 2018, stated in a report on Friday.
About re-introducing the discarded scheme
This big announcement will probably be made by the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday, October 25.
The Union Minister will also be announcing a new ‘No-Detention’ policy. The policy stated that all students, till fifth standard will be promoted automatically.
“There have been numerous representations from the academic institutions as well as from parents’ organisations saying that scrapping of an exam and with a ‘no-detention policy’ being in place is affecting the academic standards,” a senior official from the HRD Ministry said.

“Also, it has been observed that students are not able to take the pressure of directly appearing for the Class XII board exams, which are the deciding factor of one’s career,” the official stated, adding that while no final decision has been made yet on when to introduce the system again, 2018 is examined to be a likely target.
Earlier in 2010, Class 10 Board exams were discarded and the grading system was initiated by the former Congress-led regime.
According to reports the plan to re-establish the old system was considered after numerous states and organizations of teachers and parents said that the present practice is largely harming the academic standards.

On Thursday, Javadekar said that a major change is required in the nation’s education policy along with providing quality education to all.
“Providing quality education to all is a precondition for building a better nation. The Centre is looking forward to a big change in the country’s education policy to accomplish its goal of making quality education available to everyone,” Javadekar said this at a programme which took place at Dayanand Saraswati Sukhanand Career Public School at Sheeshamjhadi
