A mother waits to say final goodbye to her ‘Beloved Pooja’

Pooja Kumari died in Kyrgyzstan. Family wants to see her, wants help from Indian government

The biggest dream of parents is to see their children successful. They do every possible effort to fulfill their child’s dream. Indian girls still face discrimination when it comes to higher education. But there are families who go beyond their limits to give wings to the dreams of their daughter. One such family is in Nawada.

Pooja Kumari’s family in Nawada, Bihar sent her to Kyrgyzstan state in 2017 for higher studies. Pooja was studying MBBS from Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. She was a brilliant student since childhood. After she finished her studies at Kota, her father decided to send her for higher medical studies. Just like every other Indian parent, Krishna Kumar was a proud father. But all their dreams got shattered in just one call.

On Monday night (June 1), the family received a call from one of Pooja’s friend saying – “Pooja passed away.”

Since then, the family is trying to get in touch with her friends or faculty in the college. But they haven’t got any response. Our team got in touch with Pooja’s brother Kunal.

Kunal said, “She was a brilliant student since childhood and wanted to do something big in her life. Our father supported her despite not being economically well off. Her father is a government teacher and firmly believed in Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. We had met her one year ago. She had come to the village for our brother’s wedding. ”

Talking about her medical conditions, he said, “She complained about stomach ache from last couple of days. He had a word with Pooja one hour before she died. She informed him about an operation, and one hour later the family was informed about her death. ”

Kunal said, his father is a heart patient. He has suffered cardiac arrest in the past. Family has not informed him about Pooja’s demise to him. He wants to talk to Pooja.

Family is seeking every possible help. All they want is to bid final goodbye to her with all rituals. Pooja’s mother is continuously crying since Monday, and she wants to hug her daughter for one last time.

They want Indian government to help them in bringing back the remaining mortals of Pooja to Nawada. According to the family, no state government officials have reached them so far.
